3 cups fresh whole strawberries
2 tbsp lemon juice, fresh or bottled
2 cups sugar
Grind or mash strawberries. Measure 2 cups and combine next two ingredients in a saucepan. Heat and stir on medium high until sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil. Boil for about 45 minutes until a spoonful cooled to room temperature on a chilled saucer remains smooth with no watery sign. Fill hot sterilized half pint jar within a quarter inch of top. Place sterilized metal lid o sealer and screw metal ban securely. Process for 5 minutes in boiling water bath.
Makes 1 half pint plus one small jar.
